Sandvik, on a path to grow strategically into key high-growth industry segments, said December 28 it has inked a deal to acquire German-based sensorized tool and automation software supplier pro-micron GmbH.
“Sensorized tools is a high-growth market, with strong underlying drivers such as the accelerated shift to automated production, increasing demand of production data from our customers and closed loop manufacturing driving the need for digitization,” President and CEO Stefan Widing said.
“Pro-micron’s state-of-the-art sensorized tools offering for diagnostics and process monitoring help reduce production errors and increase automation for customers within areas like solid round tools machining.”
Sandvik added that pro-micron’s existing long-standing relationships with machine tool builders will help it to strengthen and expand its partnerships.
The company will be reported in Sandvik Coromant, a division within Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions.
No financial details were released.
Pro-micron, founded in 2002, is headquartered in Kaufbeuren, Bavaria, Germany.
